Brisbane Concert BandWelcome to the Brisbane Municipal Concert Band and Brisbane City Stage Band

The Brisbane Municipal Concert Band is an amateur, community ensemble that has been making music in Brisbane for over one hundred years. We welcome anyone who enjoys making good music with good friends and this is reflected in our 40 members who range from 17 to 74 years of age and come from all walks of life. We give everyday people the opportunity for life-long music learning.

The Brisbane City Big Band is an 20 piece community jazz ensemble which made its debut performance at a free concert at Mt Coot-tha Gardens stage in February 2008. The band is an exciting new venture undertaken by the Brisbane Municipal Band

Both bands regularly perform in parks around the city as a part of the Brisbane City Council's Parks Programme, overseen by the Brisbane Metropolitan Bands Inc, and every second year we put on a spectacular Gala Concert event. A band with a facinating past, we also looking forward with some really exciting future events.

2008 will be an exciting year as we will be playing hosts in a special musical exchange with a concert band from France, Les Philharmonistes des Pays de Vaucluse.

Brisbane Municipal Concert Band practices Thursday 8-10pm at Paddington Playground Hall, Moreton St Paddington.

We are always looking for enthusiastic new members so if you would like to join us, fill in our contact us form or contact David Jones - 0412016481

If you have enjoyed seeing us in concert - and would love to see us again! - join the Friends of BMCB mailing list and receive email updates with details of where and when we will be playing next.

Concert Band\'s Night Off

Thu Aug 14, 2008 8:00 am - Wendy

The concert band is having a break next week to make room for Stage band who have their next park gig in September. See you in a fortnight!

Upcoming Gigs

Thu Aug 07, 2008 8:30 am - Wendy

Our next performance is the band's absolute favourite on the BMCB calendar... RIVERFIRE! This is a private concert at the Maritime Museum and is not open to the general public. Details will be emailed out to members closer to the date.

The BMCB's next park gig is the day after Riverfire... great planning! Sunday the 31st August at Mt Coot-tha.

The Big Band will also be out on the park circuit again soon, which means another night off for the rest of us ;) You can find the details of both BMCB & BCBB concerts on the events page.

In other news, the Battle of the Bands council auditions are now a bi-annual event, to match up with the Queensland Festival of Music. The next one will be in September 2009.

We have the week off :)

Sun Jun 08, 2008 7:56 am - Wendy

Yup, that's right. There will be no band this Thursday night - 12th of June. We'll be back the week after. So break out the credit card and hit the stores (or bars!) for some late night shopping.

Or you could stay home and practice, hey Stewart? ;)
